Flatiron District

Neighborhood Overview
The Flatiron District is located in south-central part Midtown Manhattan. The northern and southern boundaries are approximately 23rd Street and 14th Street, respectively. The eastern border is Park Avenue and the western border is Sixth Avenue. The Flatiron District includes some of the City's most popular restaurants, a great shopping, superb educational institutions and historic architectural attractions as well as a growing residential community.
Housing
There are quite a few loft apartment buildings (mostly conversions), which are not as expensive as those in SoHo and TriBeCa. There is also a more traditional housing stock, a handful of high-rise buildings for example, "One Madison Park", an exclusive 50 story luxury residential condominium tower; and the side streets south of the Flatiron Building contain older low-rises.
Restaurants
Eisenberg's Sandwich Shop is diner dates back to 1929. 230 Fifth Avenue’s rooftop bar and restaurant has majestic city views. Eataly offers all things Italian. Nibble on small plates at the Craftbar or sip a NYC Side Car at the Flatiron Lounge. Still very popular is the Shake Shack in Madison Square Park.
Arts and Entertainment

Metropolitan Room offers unforgettable cabaret. The Gershwin Hotel is a tribute to Andy Warhol, and features some of his art and memorabilia throughout. The Museum of Sex speaks for itself. Founded by the Dalai Lama, the Tibet House is a bookstore, gallery and meditation space. Notable buildings include the Flatiron Building, one of the oldest of the original New York skyscrapers and the Met Life Tower, built in 1909 and once the tallest building in the world.
